Fiction books for gifts

Sarah Needs Saving is a great book for an avid reader from a new and upcoming author. It explores the complexities of love, loyalty, and the lengths one woman will go to protect her family. Available from Amazon and Waterstones.

Another great book from the same author is Emily’s Algarve Escape. This is a lovely novel about a family of expats fleeing the UK to live alongside some of Portugal’s most magnificent luxury holiday resorts in the Algarve.
Persuaded to abandon her glamorous life in London’s Knightsbridge for the allure of a life in the sun, desperate Emily seeks a new life of luxury, sun-drenched days and, most needed, financial freedom. But, with family in tow, this isn’t a simple relocation. Emily’s Algarve Escape is available from Amazon and Waterstones, both for around £8.99.

The latest book in the historical fiction series by Chris Bishop, The Prodigal Son.
As the kingdom is once more plagued by Viking attacks, Wareham is obliged to strengthen its defences against the threat posed by huge fleet of Viking longships which are rampaging along the south coast and could strike there at any time. Meanwhile, having recognized Edward’s true lineage, King Alfred fears that the boy may fall victim to every fraudster in the realm seeking to get their hands on the vast fortune he’s set to inherit. Worse still, given his newly established bloodline, he could well be used by those wishing to usurp Alfred as King. The most immediate threat to the boy comes from his treacherous uncle, Edmund, who has already tried
once to kill him and failed. He is believed to have fled to join a band of desperate thieves in Wareham Forest from where he could strike again at any time.
The book is great for fans of his, but if your recipient hasn’t read them before I would advise buying the others in the series first. They are available from Chris Bishop’s website directly.

Even from the moment she was born, it was clear that Becky Bexley was not like other children. Her family were shocked by her behaviour! Just a few years later, and she’s in secondary school, often seeming wiser than her teachers. She does her best to help people, whether they like it or not. She has advice for her teachers when they want to give up smoking, gives a boy advice he uses to stop himself being teased, and even gives the headmaster some advice on improving the school’s anti-bullying strategy. She helps people outside school too, including rescuing her mum from a con artist, and she even gets to go to the White House, where she ends up giving the president advice about his behaviour! He invites her to help some politicians with the depression they have. But will a few tactless remarks she makes and their own fierce disagreements unwittingly stirred up by some of the insights she tries to pass on ruin her efforts? Becky’s advice is based on genuine therapy techniques and psychological research, and the books in this series combine humour with handy information.
