Redecorating your lounge – our recommendations and who to avoid!
We have been planning to redecorate our lounge/diner, which is also my work area, for a while so this year it finally got done. We have had some ups and downs with the whole renovation/redecoration process so I wanted to share them with you!

Choosing the colours
We spent a while choosing colours and painting sample pots on the wall, a great idea on one hand, on the other it can be hard to paint over dark colours you didn’t like. The decorator we used suggested painting them on paper instead and then holding them or sticking them to the wall. I thought this was a great idea so will definitely do that next time! If you are redecorating your lounge I would recommend you do too!
The colours we opted for were both from Dulux, Willow tree and Tranquil Dawn. They go really well together and I would definitely recommend them!

Windows – Blinds and Curtains
Our windows needed replacing however it was just the blown panels that needed doing which was nowhere near as expensive as having totally new windows, definitely worth thinking about if you are in a similar position and redecorating your lounge.
Instead of net curtains and horizontal blinds, this time we wanted vertical blinds. Having used Make My Blinds and found them great previously we were keen to use them again and I was lucky enough to work with them on a review of our new blinds.

We also wanted new curtains to match the new decor and found some we loved from Dunelm and bought the matching cushions for our new sofa.
The light shades are also from Dunelm and I think match perfectly.
We chose the circular shelves and wall art from The Range.

New sofa and carpet
Obviously, we wanted a new sofa, the old one really was old and needed replacing. To some degree, it was that and the need to replace the carpet which sparked the full redecoration!
The new sofa is a corner one which comes in pieces and can be rearranged in whatever configuration you choose. We added the media unit with two cup holders and USB charging points in a lift-up armrest. The two end pieces are recliners too and so comfortable. We ordered it in early May from DFS.

Whilst we love the sofa it was not smooth sailing getting it delivered. They arranged delivery a number of times before it was even in the country (apparently it was manufactured in the Middle East!) and then due to it not being here had to cancel. Extremely frustrating! On one occasion, we were even told the driver had Covid-19 and that was why it had to be cancelled, something they later admitted was untrue! Whilst we love the sofa I would definitely not recommend the DFS service!
Our new carpet is so soft and whilst it has built-in underlay we also bought underlay with it so it feels really soft!
